| EQUIPMENT TIPS SKATE SHARPENING NEW SKATES need to be sharpened, choose a reputable expert as the proper sharpening can effect skating ability and results. Skates should be professionally sharpened approximately every 20 hrs. of skating depending on care of the blades. Care of the blades: Are skate guards being used when off the ice? Skating outdoors? Blades dull from dirt and grit in the ice? Drying the blades after use prevents rust. BRAND PRODUCTS Skates and helmets are manufactured by several companies, choose equipment that best fits your child. Quality skates are essential for optimal skill development.
